A visitor (34) of an local record store said, he also downloaded audios and movies from internet, once he cannot search the source, he will tries to find in record store.

“Most are old songs, especially the 90’s”, he mentioned.

Hao’s case was a bit special, he visited to record store because he just wanted to check which new album haven’t download.

“When I walk into record store, I realize there are fewer and fewer visitor, sad case for these genuine shop”, he added.

Despite the western had a higher understanding and awareness to intellectual property, but some of the traditional or veteran record store has failed to keep operation, due to the world trend in internet world. For example, HMV, the UK largest recorded music retailer has been announced to end up its operation, since year 1921.

Although HMV got the digital music selling department, it still failed to compete with larger, more prepared international company, such as iTunes and Amazon.

“If the record store which provided legal download service cannot survives in this digital age, how can our local exist physical record store survives in a high illegal download rate?”, Hao said.
