Is Online Shopping Safe?

Shoppers are able to buy almost anything over the internet these days and it brings convenience to the sellers and buyers. However, scammers can use the name of annoymity to create unexpected harassment to them.

Scammers can pretend to be selling a product-often very cheap- just so they can steal your bank account details. Similarly, they may take your money but send you a faulty or worthless product instead, even nothing at all.

Ice Ong, 19 and Gai Wen Wong, 23 stated that a very common trick by the scammers is the description and quality of the product received did not match the order and it reject to refund or return of purchase. 

“Sometimes, once you pay and they receive your money, you will never hear from them again.” Ice Ong said.

Jiun Kang Hee, 22 added, “Some online purchasers simply deal from unsecure websites. They forgot to log out from their bank account online.”

From the opinion from seller, the owner of Singx Fashion, Cher Sing Lee, 22 said that internet scam do happen when the seller disappear after receiving the money or sending a worthless products that did not match to the product ordered by the shoppers. “It brings bad experience to the shoppers and the amount of online shoppers will decrease.”
