Pass and Carry on the Chinese Culture

KUALA LUMPUR: Through this annual event, the headmistress hoped that the Chinese culture can be continued by the younger generation such as the students.

Temple fair is also known as “Miaohui” in Chinese. It is a Chinese cultural gathering traditionally adjacent to temples. But nowadays, the temple fair activities have been popularized and become active. The custom of holding regular temple fair can be found everywhere even at the school. 





The temple fair held in Kuen Cheng High School since year 2010. According to Madam Gooi Swee Gaik, the school headmistress, this event provides opportunities to the students to understand the meaning of the Spring Festival. 




Other than that, students who attend the event may experience the atmosphere of the Spring Festival. They may know more about the Chinese culture through the traditional performances. For the mini fancy fair, students may experience the process of selling product by themselves through this event. 

“We as an educator, we have the responsibility to pass the Chinese culture to the young generation and let them to carry on it. However, all of these have to start from education. ” said Madam Gooi.

There will be another big event coming soon. On the 11th and 12th of May, an annual fancy fair will be held in Kuen Cheng High School. More detail information will be updated on the school website: http://highschool.kuencheng.edu.my/.
