Gym the Uprising Culture

According to Heritage Sport Center Manager, Chew Teng Wu, there is an obvious increase for the gym user in these few years. The user increased averagely about 5-10% in a year. However, male is the majority which takes around 80% while female are only 20%. He added, “The age range for the gym group would be likely fall on 20-40 year old.”

He said, “Entrance fees is RM8 for public and RM5 for students, they can use all the equipment provided and there is no time limit.” Besides that, for the first timer that comes in touch with gym, person-in charge will brief them about the basic rules regarding the gym and the instruction to use equipment correctly so they wouldn’t injure themselves while exercising.

Equipment prefers by user

The most frequent use equipment in the gym will be the treadmill. Treadmills are vastly use by women and men as their main cardio training. Cardio training is also known as aerobic exercise. This exercise shows the fast result in reducing weight and improves one’s heart rate.

Weightlifting is more famous for guys. Lin Hin (Sport science student, 22) said, “Weightlifting is more popular among guys because they want a fitter and more muscular body whereas for women they prefer a tone up body therefore they will prefer aerobic exercise”. 

As gym becomes the most recent trend of exercise, most of the big gym center has actually held different kind of classes to attract more customers. The classes offer by gym includes Zumba, Shamba, Yoga, Body combat and more. 

Feel the nature with outdoor activities

Exercise is one of the most important key to practice a healthy lifestyle. Overall, we can categorize exercise into two major components, which is indoor and outdoor activities. Everyone has their own preference to choose between indoor and outdoor activities.

Yi Fen (student, 21) said she prefers outdoor exercise than indoor, “I feel so good whenever after I sweat the breeze actually chill me down slowly, this is something that I don’t get to experience in indoor.” 

She added, she will still go gym twice in a week for the equipment but normally she still likes outdoor exercise more because she wants to feel the nature.

  1. many people use to hurt themselves while doing exercise, you have provide a very informative video. Suggest that you can add some picture to make your news more interesting. For example the proper posture when exercising.

  4. The gym routine is good, especially for the newbie.

    However, this culture need a good commitment on it. I would suggest the reader should go for trial first instead of take the contract directly. Or else, it is just a waste of money.
