Tattoo can be related to infectious disease?

Tattoo's hygiene is also one of the concerns from society besides the bad impression of morality towards tattoo. People worry that might some unscrupulous artist reuses the needle, and causes the spread of bacteria.

According to Wong Wai Kit, a tattoo artist from Zoo Body Art, do the research to compare the different art shop is very important before tattoo. He advised that we should not simply trust to friend’s recommendation unless you go and see the license of the shop.

There is a case about an Australian tourist infected by AIDS when he goes for tattoo in Bali, Indonesia by December, 2011. This international tattoo hygiene topic was lead to society beware of the sanitary condition of a tattoo shop.

Besides that, he also mentioned some “Do and Don’t of tattoo”: 

Before tattoo
1. Do legally – must be over 18 year-old, and not Muslims;
2. Do think carefully- Getting a tattoo is painful and it will stay forever on your body;
3. Do your research – To compare the price, the style of tattoo, the creditability of the art shop, to avoid regret;

After tattoo
1. Don’t touch the water at the tattoo within 24 hours;
2. Don’t eat seafood within 14 days;
3. Don’t swim, nor prolonged exposure to sunlight within 14 days;
4. Don’t carry out any sport within 7 days if you just had a big totem tattooed.

  4. Instead of comparing price, I would prefer the reputation of the tattoo artist.

    Additional information, do not take eggs as well after tattoo and request to change needle if possible.
